Requirements: 4, 7 and 8 will not be covered in my class.

4- Find an issue in your community, find which department of City or local government is responsible, call and interview someone in that department about what the department does to remedy the issue and what the scout could do to help with the issue.  (i.e., trash in a park, they would call the parks department and ask what the city does to clean the park and what he could do to help clean).  If you have questions, please come see me.

7- They need to do 8 hours of Community service) (not scout related).  It needs to be something they are interested in.  It needs to be something they had to look up to find out about and have it approved by me before they start.  I don't want a scout to help out 1. Something outside of North Texas, 2. Something not set up by family (if possible).  This should be something for the Community.  This might be limited for younger scouts on what organizations will let them do.  If you have questions, please come see me.

8-  This is a presentation (video, slideshow/PowerPoint, speech, or presentation board) it is not just limited to these.  If the scout can think of another way to present the information, please do so.  I want this to be thoughtful, and well prepared.  Please have it include information about the history, cultures, and ethnic groups of your community; its best features and popular places where people gather; and the challenges it faces.  If you have questions, please come see me.
